Call for proposals: European Innovation Platform for Knowledge Intensive Services Supporting the creation of more European Innovation growth champions in the field of services Strand 1 Sectoral network (1) Sectoral network (2) Sectoral network (3) Strand 2: Horizontal support action

3 STRAND 1: Sectoral Networks
Scope: promote innovation in knowledge intensive service areas Objective: develop and test improved business support mechanisms for knowledge intensive service companies with high growth potential Sectors: Innovative industries with a high proportion of knowledge intensive service activities Knowledge intensive services: research-intense activities with a strong technological dimension

4 STRAND 1: Activities & Deliverables
Assess the research and skills needs of high growth KIS enterprises and establish links with relevant research and business partners → voucher scheme, business plan competitions at university level, workshops and roundtables, etc Develop and test integrated and tailored support packages (training, advice, networking, etc.) through a one-stop-shop (pick and mix) approach → Tested support packages with at least 250 KIS enterprises with a high growth potential Offer info packages or toolboxes to other public and private innovation intermediaries and develop and exit strategy → Dissemination and exploitation activities, dissemination websites are excluded! Participate in a horizontal steering group For each sectoral network!!

5 STRAND 1: Partners Minimum 5 partners from 3 different Member States representing the following groups of organisations: 2 Public agencies responsible for financing or managing an innovation programme Universities, research centres, business and management schools Innovation intermediaries: incubators, science parks, training and coaching centres Investors (venture capitalists, business angels)

7 STRAND 1: Focus on knowledge intensive services with high growth potential Demonstrate that the chosen sector is an innovative knowledge intensive service area Build upon existing initiatives and tailor tools and methodologies to the specific needs of high growth KIS firms Develop and test integrated & tailored support packages that will lead to better innovation support schemes Ensure a strong impact: Foresee an exit strategy and involve strong players in a Public Private Partnership

8 STRAND 2: Scope and Deliverables
Offer general support and ensure consistency between the sectoral networks European repository of innovation in services Guide on the facilitation of organisational innovations in services European business community of min. 100 young innovative service companies with high growth potential Annual partnering events, annual European Venture Contests, service innovation award Common marketing and communication tools (website, promotional material, etc) & Annual reports Horizontal steering group

9 STRAND 2: Partners Minimum number of participants is 1
Partners are supposed to have: Experience in setting up European business communities and collecting feedback from stakeholders Experience in extracting project results and making policy recommendations Experience in developing websites and on-line collaboration tools Experience in designing marketing material, disseminating information, organising and animating international workshops Proven excellence in writing and editing English papers and news announcements

11 STRAND 2: The European Innovation Platform is an initiative, not a pool of individual projects Be flexible and involve the sectoral networks in your activities from the beginning Be innovative – in establishing a repository, developing a dissemination portal, organising meetings, etc. Be pro-active and communicate efficiently

Same or similar consortia can submit more than 1 proposal for different sectors Eligible countries: EU Member States & countries that established an agreement to participate in CIP Only paper submission (3 copies + CD-Rom) Don’t miss the deadline! 07 September 2007
