Tag Day – Saturday, Sept. 28th Fundraiser for the entire music department. Teams of students go door-to-door throughout the CVHS community seeking donations for the entire music department. Traditionally the largest fundraiser for the band. Many volunteers critical to the success of the day. The music department divides the proceeds from Tag Day based on the participation ratio among band, orchestra, choir and guitar volunteers. The higher the ratio of band participation, the more the band will benefit. Parent volunteers count!

Volunteers Parent volunteers are critical to the success of the band program. Excellent way to share some fun experiences “near” your students (they may not want you “with” them!) and connect with the school in a meaningful way. Please consider helping in some way by volunteering for at least three events during the marching season and beyond. Satisfaction guaranteed! If you don’t enjoy working in a particular area, try something else!

Volunteers (cont) We particularly need help in the following areas; please consider signing up tonight: PIT CREW– help with transporting percussion equipment at football games and competitions. UNIFORMS– help with distributing and/or collecting uniforms before and after football games. Assist with fittings as needed. FRIDAY DINNERS– help to serve dinners to band members before home football games. TAG DAY- biggest need is for drivers. Also need help with advance work and tasks on Tag Day.

Coordinators Needed! We really need two individuals to serve as coordinators for Pit Crew and Tag Day! If you’ve participated in Pit or Tag Day before, you’re ready! Pit Crew Coordinator is primarily responsible for arranging for and loading/unloading the truck at competitions Tom Landwermeyer took this role last year and left us a long list of notes on where to go/what’s needed, so you’ll have a strong starting point Tag Day Coordinator works with other coordinators (orchestra, chorus, guitar) to prepare for Tag Day Cathy Dettmer performed this role for us last year and is available to help with advice and guidance Tag Day planning will be starting soon, so we really need help here! Please consider volunteering for one of these positions! We could really use your help here!

Scrip Perhaps the easiest way to raise money for your band student. Go online to purchase gift cards. Choose from literally HUNDREDS of places: Grocery stores: Giant, Safeway, Shopper’s, Whole Foods Department stores: Target, Wal-Mart, Macy’s, Sears, JCPenny Restaurants: Outback, IHOP, Baja Fresh, Panera, Starbucks And many more! A portion of your payment—typically 4-8% —is deposited into your student’s band account. The money earned can be applied to cover the Spring trip, spirit wear, or any band fees!

Questions? Coordinators, Booster officers and Mrs. Hall are all available this evening to help with any questions or concerns. Many answers can also be found on the website:
