Imperfect –ar Verbs (past tense verbs)

Like the preterite, imperfect verbs are past tense verbs. However, they have a different set of endings than the preterite. For example: (first verb on page) Hablar = to speak

To say I spoke, drop the –ar and add aba Yo hablaba You (inf) spoke ends in abas Tú hablabas He, she, or you (formal) spoke ends in aba Él hablaba, ella hablaba, ud. hablaba

We spoke ends in abamos Nosotros hablabamos They or you (plural) spoke ends in aban Ellos hablaban, uds. hablaban Put the following verbs in your verb book and then complete the chart using the new endings for imperfect verbs:
