CHRISLAND SCHOOLS YEAR FOUR INTEGRATED SUBJECTS Topic: Agitation for Independence in Nigeria. Week 2

After the amalgamation of the northern and southern protectorate in 1914,the country became a British Colony. All government activities were purely British under the rule of Queen Elizabeth II of England. By 1944, Herbert Macauley and Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe formed a political party called the National Council of Nigeria and Cameroon (N.C.N.C). Dr. Herbert Macauley was the father of Nationalism or Nationalist Movement in Nigeria.
