NUS Group Cultural Values

Our Values What are Values? Why are they Important? NUS Group Cultural Values Our Expectations

The commonly held standards of what is acceptable or unacceptable, important or unimportant, right or wrong, workable or unworkable, etc., in a community or society

Cultural Values “Where strongly shared values can be demonstrated, people are more likely to be satisfied, displaying higher levels of organisational commitment, lower quit rates, greater customer satisfaction, and lower levels of dissent or dissatisfaction over levels of pay.” [source: CIPD 2011]

Our Cultural Values Student Focused “We are committed to ensuring that students can thrive. We respect and understand the importance of student leadership and champion our member students’ unions.”

Our Cultural Values Collaborative “We treat each other with respect without fail, promote diversity and seek out new partnerships.”

Our Cultural Values Learning and Growing “We take responsibility for constantly improving ourselves and others. If we make mistakes we’ll learn from them and make things better.”

Our Cultural Values Change Agent “We never stop trying to improve things; we experiment, challenge the status quo and never, ever ‘do things because it’s the way we always have’.”

Our Cultural Values Striving for Excellence “Quality is at the heart of everything we do. We prioritise work on the areas that have the biggest impact on students’ lives and celebrate our successes.”

Our Expectations Our Leaders and Managers… make sure we have a clear set of cultural values that underpin our purpose and vision. ensure the values are at the heart of our strategy and govern the way we operate. talk about the values, discuss them in team meetings and challenge behaviours that fall outside them. ensure that all colleagues in their teams know how the values relate to them in terms of expectations and behaviours. Our Staff… can describe our values and what this means to the way they are expected to work. challenge colleagues if their behaviour doesn’t match the values. believe in and share our vision and values.

Thank You Any questions?
