Objectives Students will: Identify the verbs in a sentence. Distinguish main verbs from helping verbs.

Rules A verb may have two parts. A main verb Shows the action in the sentence. Some main verbs show action One or more helping verbs. They work with the main verb. They do not show action. The main verb and the helping verb form a verb phrase.
