5  Noun or pronoun that appears with a direct object and names the person or thing that something is given to or done for  A sentence cannot have an indirect object without a direct object  Ask to or for whom? Or To or for what?  Example › I gave my brother new skis

6  Many colleges offer students bowling.  The instructor teaches each class basic rules.  My father lent John and me his bowling balls.  My friend gave me a wrist brace to help my game.  Mr. Neil taught us the history or bowling.
