Instructional Strategy Research Assignment: A Demonstration This Instructional Strategy demonstration includes two different lesson plans: one for the general education instructor to conduct with his/her students and another for parents to conduct with their children at home. It is imperative to state that both lesson plans that are included in this demonstration are aimed at promoting awareness regarding the fully included students’ disability—Downs Syndrome.

Instructional Strategy Research Assignment: A Demonstration The following areas may were considered when developing this assignment: Reading—Decoding, Fluency, or Comprehension, English Language Proficiency, as well as Social and Adaptive Skills. This is designed to support a general education instructor in teaching a student with special needs who spends most of his day in a general education setting

Lesson Plan for Teacher: We are More Alike than Different Objective: Students will learn about Down Syndrome Awareness. Students will first learn about how individuals with downs syndrome are more alike than different through a group activity in which students will read and answer questions using key words and phrases pertaining to the subject at hand.

Lesson Plan for Teacher: We are More Alike than Different Parents will then help their children learn and at the same time be aware of down syndrome by including a photograph of themselves with their family, as well as five activities that they do as a family.

Lesson Plan for Teacher: We are More Alike than Different The list can include recreational activities such as camping, swimming or sports, but can also include hobbies, pastimes, and traditions.

Lesson Plan for Teacher: We are More Alike than Different Materials: 1. Pre-printed booklet pages 2. Pencil and eraser 3. A stapler Activity: 1. Students first read the booklet and then answer questions pertaining to Down Syndrome Awareness. 2. Next, students will staple booklet pages together and take them home to perform the next step of the activity with their parents.
