In the Name of Allah Project : Introduction To Oxfam Done by: Tasbeeh Shakhsheer. Grade 10 Zawata Basic School for Girls. Supervised by Teacher: Haifa Ghalb.

INTRODUCTION TO OXFAM During world war II (1939-45), groups of people in Britain started collecting food and clothes. They sent these to poor families abroad. One of these groups was the Oxford Committee for Famine Relief. This started in 1942 and send food to Greece. photo photo

Once the war had ended, it began helping in many more countries around the world . The group's name changed to Oxfam. It is now one of the UK’s main aid agencies , and it supports communities in over 80 Countries. Oxfam works with people who are suffering because of local wars, natural disasters like earthquakes, or other causes of poverty .It helps people find solutions to their problems and build better lives .

This means different things in different places at different times. The most basic areas are health ,education and training . But Oxfam supports economic development ,too ,with projects that create new jobs. photo

The End: Here are some examples .Clean water is often the most basic health need . Oxfam offers communities cheap, simple systems to produce water that is safe to drink. It trains health workers, who go out across their countries and help many other people. Finally, Oxfam lends money to groups that want to start businesses and lift themselves out of poverty . photo
