HOW TO MAKE A FLUFF BAT Step by Step Craft Instructions By Jenna McMichael Education Department Lubee Bat Conservancy L UBEE B AT C ONSERVANCY S AVING B ATS. C ONSERVING E COSYSTEMS.

What you will need Scissors Ruler Pom-poms (body) Felt or foam craft sheet (wings) Pipe cleaner (feet) Pen or pencil (to trace lines) Google eyes

Step One Starting with a corner, trace a square. Draw a line from one corner to the other through the center of the square making two triangles. Cut the Square out. Step Two Using the line in the middle of the square, cut out the two triangles.

Step Three Using your pencil, trace three small triangles on the bottom left side of both wings. Following the lines, carefully cut the triangles out.

Now we are ready to make our Fluff Bat! Choose any color pom-pom, felt and pipe cleaner you want. It may be easier to cut your pipe cleaner in half (like the picture) or choose to cut the extra off once your fluff bat is put together. The extra pipe cleaner will be used to make the feet!

Step Four Use your hand to grab both ends of the pom-pom and pull so that the pipe cleaner goes through the fuzz and rests in the center. The pipe cleaner should be hidden in the pom-pom. Place pipe cleaner on top of the pom-pom.

Step Five Place one wing over the other. Line wings up with triangles away from center.

Step Six Place wings on pom-pom as seen in photo. Take both ends of pipe and twist ends together securing wings to the pom- pom or body of the bat.

Step Seven Bend both ends of pipe cleaner up toward wings. You can use the pipe cleaner ends as feet so your fluff bat can hang upside down.

You did it!! Ask your parent to glue google eyes to your bat. You may use Foam glue from your local craft store or a hot glue gun to attach the google eyes. Be sure to let glue cool if you use a hot glue gun

Have fun hanging your fluff bat on your clothes, backpack or even furniture! We hope you enjoyed this craft presentation from L UBEE B AT C ONSERVANCY S AVING B ATS. C ONSERVING E COSYSTEMS.
