Song Lyric Analysis BEST OF TIMES/WORST OF TIMES IN A GIVEN DECADE

What do you think your song is about? Give it a hashtag or two. Example: All About That Bass would get the hashtag(s) #bodyimage #self-esteem

Look up a YouTube video of your song by typing in the title and the artist in the YouTube search bar. Watch one video of each of your songs.

1. Do your opinions about BOT and WOT songs differ now that you have heard the song? Why or why not? 2. What is different about reading the lyrics of a song versus listening to/watching a video of the song? 3. Look up your song online to find out what it is about. Were you right?

I want you and your partner to list 4-8 additional events from your decade. You can use any search engine, but a good place to start might be one of the following:

Based on your song lyrics, the audio/visual version of the song, what the song is about, and events of the decade…I want you and your partner to make an argument about the decade you are working with: Was it (the 60s/70s/80s/90s) the Best of Times or was it the Worst of Times?

Your argument needs a strong CLAIM with EVIDENCE (from the song and from events of the decade) to support it! This is an argument that I might have you present so be creative in how you organize this information. Some ideas: -create a mini-BOT/WOT speech for your decade -create a visual that incorporates your evidence -create a mini-poster on a sheet of paper that organizes the information.
