California Integrated Waste Management Board 3 Site Description: Site Description: –Rancho Duarte Golf Course; on 33-acre closed former municipal solid waste and inert waste landfill (Canyon Park Landfill) operated –Original private operator of landfill bankrupt. –Property purchased by City in 1978 and developed by private entities into golf course with adjacent residences. –Property sold by City in 1994; subsequently sold several times. –U.S. Kuil Inc. owner since 2005; KUA Industries, Inc. is operator; portion retained by City (Rancho Road). California Integrated Waste Management Board 7 Canyon Park Landfill City of Duarte Project Description: Project Description: –The City is requesting a matching grant to bring the site into compliance. –Proposed project includes replacement of existing blower system, the installation of new gas extraction wells and treatment system, and repair of drainage area or concern on and around the Site. –The estimated total cost is $1.5 million of which Board matching grant funds requested are up to $750,000. –City as grantee will ensure oversight and completion of project, including any excess costs and is negotiating apportionment of its costs with property owner. –Property owner will provide access and operate and maintain the new system.
