2 California Integrated Waste Management Board Overall Strategy  Focus on 2 Interrelated Fronts – Enforcement and Market Development – Strong, fair regulatory framework to protect health, safety, and environment, without stifling flow and processing of tires – Expanded business and government infrastructure for manufacturing and using tire-derived products 2

3 California Integrated Waste Management Board CIWMB Goals  Strategic Directive 3.4 – Increase diversion to 90% by 2015 – Ensure 100% of facilities in compliance or under compliance orders  Complementary Goals – Eliminate all identified illegal tire piles by 2010 – Reduce number of tires generated from 1.23 per person in 2006 to 0.75 by 2015 3

4 California Integrated Waste Management Board Market Analysis and Program Evaluation  In August to present California Scrap Tire Market Report.  Data for 2007 - 2008 waste and used tires generated in California and their end-uses.  Item will also discuss timeline and process for an overall program evaluation. 4
