Rulers and Leaders of India Asoka was one of the greatest rulers of ancient India. He brought nearly all of India together. Kanishka is the most famous king of the Kushan Kings that ruled during the Kushan empire. Most historians felt his reign marked the height of Kushan dominance in central Asia. Haidar Ali was a Muslim peasant who rose by military intelligence to run the army of the Hindu state of Mysore. By 1761, he was the virtual ruler of Mysore.

India Geography In the past, India has had some very beautiful landscapes. I thought these were the most beautiful landscapes of all. -The Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh is a rich, beautiful glade and is part of a heavily wooded forest. Also known as “Valley of the Gods.”

India Geography (continued) Mountains are the home of the gods in Indian tradition. Mount Kanchenjunga is one of these mountain ranges.

India Geography (continued) Rivers flowed through ancient India and made the land fertile.

Here are some cool facts about ancient Indian technology! India was one of the earliest countries to discover space technology. Ancient India made three great contributions to math- the notation system, the decimal system and the use of zero. An early type of astronomy was developed for planning the dates and times for certain sacrifices to be performed. Technology

Strange Facts India invented the number system. Aryabhata invented zero. The worlds first university was in Takshila, India in 700.B.C. Trigonometry, Calculus, and Algebra came from India. Up until 1896, the only place you could get diamonds was in India! Chess was made in India.

Unanswered Questions Historians do not know when the ruler Kanishka was born. The dates have varied hugely from 57 B.C. to 230 A.D. Ram Setu or the “Adam's Bridge”- It is unknown whether this bridge between India and Sri Lanka was man made or a natural formation of shoals. This picture was taken by NASA.
