Social Darwinism The belief that Charles Darwin’s “survival of the fittest” theory applied to human society. According to that theory, the strongest members of society would be wealthy. Therefore, poverty was considered a sign of weakness, and was considered to be the fault of those who were poor. Further supports a laissez-faire approach to business
