Katy Staples | RE Adviser Bristol SACRE Creative ideas for creative learning

Katy Staples | RE Adviser Bristol SACRE Creative ideas for creative learning 2012 In 47.1% of Bristol Secondary Schools all pupils are entered for a GCSE qualification in RE (Full course or short course) One Swindon School By the end of year 11, students would have experienced 6 two and a half hour conferences which cover both RE and PSHE elements for example; war and peace, homosexuality, relationships etc At Another Swindon Academy RE is taught to KS3 and is an option at KS4. Students in year 10 have 6 lessons of RE in the year. 55% or schools in Swindon do not enter pupils for a public exam in RE Results from 2012 Survey of Bristol and Swindon Schools

Katy Staples | RE Adviser Bristol SACRE Creative ideas for creative learning EBacc + End of Short Course = Less time for RE at KS4 and may have knock on effects for KS3 (In non-faith schools) So we need to ensure that Good RE is taught in what time is left. We may have to Box clever to buy time and ensure RE specialists keep their jobs and their voices in Secondary Schools

Katy Staples | RE Adviser Bristol SACRE Creative ideas for creative learning Stephen Lloyd MP for Eastbourne who heads up the APPG for RE

Katy Staples | RE Adviser Bristol SACRE Creative ideas for creative learning Work with others and diversify whilst making RE stand proud ? Become experts in other areas : Citizenship, PSHE, learn and understand their learning goals and pedagogy - think laterally – how can we teach more joined up.
