2 Key Stage 3 at Potton Middle
Small, friendly school with specialist teachers and facilities. Teachers are secondary phase trained (KS3/4). We know the children – personally and academically and are best placed to build on successes from KS2. The curriculum is broad and challenging. Marking and Feedback is regular and purposeful. Our Extra Curricular activities are wide ranging. Many opportunities for learning outside of the classroom. Behaviour is excellent. We are a nurturing school. Children still play! Our students are happy and enjoy their learning.

3 KS3 National Curriculum
Subjects covered in our curriculum: Mathematics English Science History Geography Religious Education Art Physical Education French Music Computing Design and Technology (Resistant Materials, Food Technology and Textiles) “Pupils learn within a calm and purposeful environment. They attend regularly and punctually, are smartly dressed, and speak confidently and articulately. They apply themselves to their work with enthusiasm and diligence. Pupils’ relationships with each other, and with their teachers, are highly positive. Disruption to learning is rare. Pupils listen to each other’s ideas respectfully and respond to them thoughtfully. Teachers demonstrate their own belief in the school’s motto, that ‘every child can’, by challenging pupils to do better. Teachers encourage pupils to take a pride in what they do. They are not content with work that is second best. Pupils respond by presenting their work neatly and completing tasks fully. They show a high degree of interest in what they are learning.” OFSTED Report 2017

4 Rigour and Challenge 5 hours of English and Maths each week.
Developing academic passions – specialist teachers for Foundation Subjects. Geography, History and RE taught as individual subjects. GL assessments show that our pupils make excellent progress from KS2. GL data informs Upper Schools to support transition into Year 9. GL data predicts the attainment of our pupils at GCSE will be above national standards. Our Marking and Feedback is personalised and challenges students to ‘Close the Gap’. Students are prepared for a foundation year or to select options prior to year 9.
