A is for Adventure Land Adventureland is in DesMoines. The space shot is most popular ride in adventureland. The dragon is also a popular ride for people with iron stomaches.

During the war of 1812 Black Hawk fought on the British side. After the war, he was taken to the Eastern U.S.

The capitol building in Des Moines is topped with a thin layer of gold. It is the only five domed capitol in the country. After achieving statehood, Iowa recognized that the capitol should be moved farther west than Iowa City, in 1854 they were authorized to move the state capitol.

The Underground railroad traveled through Eastern Iowa. Before the Civil War, Harriet freed 70 slaves from slavery using it.

The Vietnam War Protests began in the 1960’s and 1970’s. The movement gained national prominence in 1965.

Waterloo was originally known as Prairie Rapids Crossing. Iowa State Register and Waterloo Herald was the first newspaper published in Waterloo.
