3 A is for adventure land Iowa's’ largest and most complete family resort is in adventure land U S A. Iowa's largest wave pool is in adventure land and 1,000 or more people visit there every summer.

4 B is for Black Angel A haunted statue in Council Bluffs Iowa has many legends on the Black Angel. The Black Angel is inspired by visions of angles of dark for three nights. After that the women who had these visions died the third morning.

5 C is for Corn Iowa is the top corn producer in the U S A. Iowa s ethanol industries can produce more than 3.6 billion gallons using over 1.1 billion bushels of corn.

6 D is for Des Moines It is the capital of Iowa. It was originally named Fort Raccoon.

7 E is for Eastern goldfinch Iowa's’ state bird and was adopted in 1933. The Eastern gold Finch is commonly found in Iowa all year around.

8 F is for Flag of Iowa Iowa was almost 75 years old before the banner was adopted. With memory of the civil war, Iowans had not adopted the state flag because they wanted the nation flag banner.

9 G is for Gypsum Giant The Gypsum giant is called the Cardiff giant and was found in the ground by well diggers. They paid fifty one cents to see the giant.

12 J is for Joliet Louis The first non-native American to explore the Mississippi river. Leader of an expedition in search of the mississippi river.

13 K is for Kanesville It is now known as council bluffs, Iowa. The city was named for an 1804 meeting of the Lewis and Clark expedition.

14 L is for log cabin Log cabins were built by pioneers when they settled into a ne land. They would get splinters and it would burn easily when.

15 M is for Mississippi It is the forth largest river in the world. It is the longest river in the USA.

16 N is for Northern Iowa University Iowa wanted to care for orphans so they opened the building. When they had no more use for the building Edward G Miller started the new school.

17 O is for oak tree It was chosen because it provides shelter food and nesting coverage. It’s difficult to find a track of natural wood land in Iowa.

18 P is for pigs Iowa is one of the top pig producers in the U S A. Iowa contains 30% of American pig productions.

19 Q is for Iowa Quarter On December 28 th 1846 Iowa became the 29 th state to admit the union so they decided to design a quarter. It was the design of a one room school house.

20 R is for Rail Roads The first rail road was built in 1883 so that the Iowans could ship goods. Iowans started losing money from building rail roads. So the government gave the Iowans 4 million acres to save money.

21 S is for Iowa state motto The state motto of Iowa was incorporated to Iowa's seal. It was the work of a three man senate.

22 T is for The Great Depression It was the longest and deepest depression in the 20 th century. Everyone struggled in Iowa to eat.

23 U is for Union Pacific Railroad In 1865 construction on the railroad had begun from Omaha Westward. 1869 Union pacific joined the central pacific, the joining of the railroads was marked in ceremony by the driving of a golden spike.

24 V is for Veterans home of Iowa It opened its doors to Iowa veterans in 1887 as the old solder home. It is one of the largest of the 148 th state owned faculties for veterans in the nation.

25 W is for Wild rose The wild rose is the state flower of Iowa. It was adopted in 1897.

26 X is for Bacilli church of Xavier The church was built in mid-1880. Special trains brought people from all over Iowa there.

27 Y is for Brigham Young In 1877, he founded salt lake city. An Iowa experience taught Brigham Young valuable lessons.

28 Z is for Blank Park Zoo It was opened in 1966 and was really designed around children's rhymes. It included a castle with a moat, a replica of Noah's ark, and a petting zoo. It is ranked the best zoo in Iowa. ( according to the computer.
