2 A is for Adventureland 1. Adventureland has over 100 rides.
2. Adventure land has over 200 chairs.

3 B is for Buttercow The Buttercow is an attraction at
the Iowa State Fair. 2. There is 600 pounds of butter in the Buttercow.

4 C is for Corn 1. According to the Discovery
Channel TV show ,if there was no corn ,there would be no Iowa. 2. If it wasn’t for corn, toothpaste wouldn’t come out of the tube the way it does.

5 D is for Des Moines 1.Des Moines was originally
known as Fort Raccoon in 1843. 2.Des Moines is the number one. spot for U.S. Insurance Companies.

6 E is for Elk Horn 1. Elk Horn is the largest rural
Danish settlement in the U S. 2. The town of Elk Horn became a town in 1901.

7 F is for Farms 1. There are 89,700 farms in Iowa.
2. The average of an Iowa farm is 343 acres of farm land.

8 G is for Gypsum 1. Gypsum is mined around Fort Dodge , Iowa.
2. Gypsum is used for cement, wallboard ,and plaster.

9 H is for Hawkeye Football
Team 1. The Iowa Hawkeye Football Team’s name WAS Cornhuskers. 2. They sold it to the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

10 I is for Iowa State Fair 1. The Iowa State Fair is the
second largest fair in the world. 2. The Iowa Sate Fair attracts more then 1 million visitors each year.

11 J is for John Wayne 1. John Wayne was born in
2. His real name is Marion Winterset ,Iowa. Morrison.

12 K is for Kate Shelley 1. Kate Shelly saved over 200 people.
{The bridge Kate Shelly climbed across.} 1. Kate Shelly saved over 200 people. 2. Kate Shelley lived by Honeycreek.

13 L is for Loess Hills 1.The Boy Scouts campground
in Little Sioux has 900 acres. 2.Mid America Council of the Boy Scouts of America was one Of the largest land holders in the area with 1,840 acres.

14 M is for Mt. Crescent 1. Mt. Crescent Ski Area has
9 ski runs, some of these ski runs reach up to2,000 feet with 300 foot drops. 2. It is the only ski area in Crescent.

15 N is for Nelson ,Chris 1. He is an Onawa Native.
2. He invented the “Eskimo Pie” in Iowa. 3. It was originally called “I Scream” bar. 4. He invented it in 1919 or 1920.

16 O is for Oak Tree 1. The Oak Tree is Iowa’s state tree.
2. The Oak Tree officially became the state tree in 1961.

1. There are 14 different towns in Pottawattamie County. 2. There are square miles in

18 Q is for Quaker Oats 1. It is in Cedar Rapids , Iowa.
2. It is the largest Cereal Company in the world.

19 R is for Roseman Covered
Bridge 1. The Roseman Covered Bridge was built in 1883. 2. The Roseman Covered Bridge is in one of the five covered bridges still standing from the original 19 covered bridges.

20 S is for Soybeans 1. Iowa produces 1/10 of our nation’s food supply.
2. Soybeans were first used as Forage Crop in the U.S.

21 T is for Tulip Toren {Time}
1. Built in 1968 in Pella, Iowa. 2. It is 65 feet tall.

22 U is for Underwood 1. It is named after the first
engineer who drove thought the town.{His last name was Underwood.} 2. In 1914 the first high school was built in Underwood.

23 V is for Van Meter 1. Van Meter is the hometown
of baseball famer Bob Feller. 2. Van Meter was named for Jacob Rhodes Van Meter ,a settler.

24 W is for Wild Rose 1. The Wild Rose is Iowa’s State Flower.
2. It was chosen to be the state flower in 1897. 1.

25 X is for Xenia Rural Water
District 1.In 1991 Xenia Rural Water District was organized under Chapter 357A of the Iowa Code. 2.In 2002 Xenia Rural Water District expanded its services include wastes water management. .

26 Y is for Yellow River Forest
1 .Yellow River Forest is Iowa’s only fire tower. 2. Yellow River Forest became a forest in 1933.

27 Z is for Zook Spur 1. It is a ghost town. 2. It was a coal mining town
located near Madrid , Iowa. 3. There are only 1 sign and a few homes left.
