Above & Beyond

 What is The Elite?  The Purpose of The Elite  The Mission of The Elite  Code of Conduct  The Oath  Leadership Roles

The Elite is a special group of high school students whom are committed to excelling in leadership, community service and self-awareness. Members of the Elite are committed to academic achievement and are college bound.

The purpose of the Elite is to provide teens in the Greater Milwaukee Metropolitan area and the North Chicago area with an intellectual Community and a network of peers who care about service, academic excellence, and thrive to make a make positive contributions to society.

It is the mission of the Elite to provide teens with a platform for youth leadership training and development as well as scholarship opportunity.

 Acceptable Behavior Members must be on time for all meetings Members must attend meetings, social events community service events, and fundraisers faithfully in order to go on out of town events Members must be appropriately dressed with business casual attire (jeans are acceptable) Members display a positive attitude at all times Members are expected to excel and to allow themselves to be pushed to the next level Refrain from use of alcohol and drugs.

 Unacceptable Behavior  1. Harassment  2. Discrimination  3. Unsatisfactory performance or service  4. Damage, loss or destruction to another person’s property  5. Theft  6. Dishonesty  7. Fighting, swearing, or abusive language  8. Excessive absences  9. Alcohol use  10. Drug abuse  11. Tobacco use  12. Abusing social networking with foul language, inappropriate pictures, poor language, etc.

***Requirements of graduating Seniors*** 1. Seniors cannot miss more than three meetings without giving valid reasons. 2. Seniors (and all members) are required to complete 15 hrs of community service to be eligible for the scholarship. ***There will be stipulations made for all members also. If any of these are not completed, seniors risk ineligibility for the annual scholarship

“I solemnly promise to be a dedicated member of The Elite. I will attend all meetings and events. I will not violate any rules of the Code of Conduct. I will not bring shame to myself, The Elite, or my community. As a member of The Elite, I will strive to succeed academically, socially, and professionally. I will put God, my family, and my education first.”

Officers pass the torch of leadership to next year’s incoming officers annually, in June.

College Prep Workshops provide the discussion, information, and tools teens need to successfully complete high school and go onto college.

The 3 rd Friday – Saturday in Gurnee, Illinois. Teens stay at Key Lime Cove and visit Fright Fest.

Title: President Description: Description: Your role as president is the most important one. President of the program is the highest leadership position and has the most influence on the direction of the membership. A well organized and properly trained president who is prepared to administer to the Elite. The President should be an example of what it means to “Above and Beyond”. The person who holds this position will bring ideas to incorporate into the program to meet the needs of its members. This person should also challenge the members to “Above and Beyond”. This person is required to commit hrs a week to working within the organization.

Title: President Description(cont’d.): Description(cont’d.): The real importance of the office of the president is found in the role and function you have in the Elite program. The role is found in one word: service. Service to fulfill the mission, service to the other club officers, and service to the general membership of the club. As president, you are the right hand of the directors. You can and should assist the directors and other officers with their duties. To do this effectively, you must be in contact with the work and policies of the Elite. Duties & Responsibilities:  Preside over Elite meetings  Attend all Elite meetings  Make sure that attendance is taken at every meeting  Follow the parliamentary procedure at all meetings  Become thoroughly acquainted with the mission so you can assist the directors

Title: Vice-President Description: Description: Your role as vice-president is an important one. Sometimes it happens that the Elite President is prevented from carrying out the duties of his/her office for various reasons. A well organized and properly operating Elite should have a trained Vice-President who is prepared to administer the Elite in the Absence of the President. The Real importance of the Vice-President is found in the role and function you have in the Elite program. The role is found in one word: service. Service to the president; service to the other club officers; and service to the general membership of the club. As Vice-President, you are the right hand of the president. You can and should assist the president and other officers with their duties. To do this effectively, you must be in contact with the work and policies of the Elite. Duties & Responsibilities:  Preside over Elite meetings in absence of the president  Attend all Elite meetings  Make sure that attendance is taken at every meeting  Assist president in everyway  Become thoroughly acquainted with the president’s duties so you can assist the president.

Title: Secretary Description: Description: A good secretary is essential for the Elite if it is going to function in a proper way. The office of the secretary is one of the most demanding in the Elite organization. In the hands of the secretary are all of the records, files and details that are important for the smooth operation of the Elite. A secretary needs to be prompt, neat, and efficient. Duties & Responsibilities:  Create Minutes of all meetings  Maintain membership roster  Maintain record of dues paying members  Create and disseminate flyers  Preside in the absence of the President and Vice-President

Title: Treasurer Description: Description: The office of Elite treasurer is important because the treasurer is in control of the Elite’s money, its collection and disbursement. It is important that this job is done well. It should be noted that the treasurer’s records always should be open to inspection by the club’s officers and directors. Duties & Responsibilities:  Collect members dues. In coordination with the secretary, forward dues monies to the Membership Roster.  Maintain accurate financial records.  Inform the Elite officers of its financial strengths and weaknesses.  Bill members unpaid dues.  Attend all the Elite fundraisers.  Collect all monies from the Elite fundraisers.  Attend the board of director meeting.  Hand in money to the Elite Program Director or the Assistant.

Title: Social Committee Chair Description: Description: The office of Social Committee Chair is to assist with building connections amongst members. The person who holds this position is required to have a strong sense of teamwork and be dedicated to building. Duties & Responsibilities:  Attend all meetings  Create activities to jeep members involved  Set up community social events

Title: Public Service Chair Description: The office of Public Service Chair is important in assisting the members with fulfilling the community service component of the program requirements. The person holding this position will search the community for opportunities for members to provide service in the community as well as support the programs mission. Duties & Responsibilities:  Attend all meetings  Create community service activities for members  Make contacts with community sources to set up events

Title: Editor Description: The office of Editor is important because the editor of the newsletter Yalak will verify that all articles are reflective of relevant topics and thoroughly reviewed before publication. The person who holds this position must have excellent communication, English, and creative writing skills. Duties & Responsibilities:  Attend all meetings  Collect submissions for the newsletter  Create articles to publish in the newsletter  Edit the newsletter

Title: Historian Duties & Responsibilities:  Attend all meetings  Read the history of the Elite when required  Keep Records of information to add to Elite’s history  Set up for induction ceremonies

Title: Sergeant at Arms Duties & Responsibilities:  Set up and breakdown of the meeting space before and after every meeting.  Greet meeting attendees.  Maintain orderly conduct of meeting.
