TIPS AND TOOLS TO HELP THE DAY OF THE TEST:  Eat a good breakfast (and/or grab some of ours!).  Wear comfortable clothes.  Bring a water bottle.  Bring pens, pencils, and a highlighter.  Bring reading materials in case you finish.  Arrive on time.  Do NOT bring cell phones, electronic devices, backpacks, or liquid paper. final

Refer to it to build your answers.  PROMPT = the question asked (eg. in the ‘Paragraphs… Opinion’ section, the prompt is the topic).  RESPONSE = your answer.  SCORING = marking. CODE = mark for each prompt.  CONVENTION = spelling, grammar, sentences, punctuation. final

TIPS AND TOOLS TO HELP NEWS REPORT  Usually features students doing something.  Relates to a photo, read it for details.  Headline given.  Brainstorm first. Think 5 W’s and how.  Lead: 1-2 lines. Answers who, what, when, where.  Body: more developed. 1-2 paragraphs. Answers why and how. Insert quotations from people.  Conclusion: final thoughts / contacts / what’s next. final
