Cisco Confidential © 2012 Cisco and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. 2 Abstract Campus FEX brings the equivalent feature functionality of Data Center FEX to the Campus Catalyst Ethernet switching line. Campus FEX reduces the number of devices needing to be managed by extending the distribution layer to the Access. The Catalyst 6500 is the FEX-Controller for Campus FEX. The FEX boxes are new FEX Switches (FCS Summer 2013). This session will discuss why Cisco is doing Campus FEX, and describe the customer benefits. The majority of the session is a technical overview of how FEX works in the Catalyst family, including how it differs from DataCenter FEX on Nexus.
