IMPORTANT SEX ED. UNIT INFORMATION Class work Notebook 20 points per day for notes must label EACH DAY and DATE. 8 Days of notes X 20 points = 160 pts. Exam on Thursday 3/26/15 notes may be used on the exam. Please note object lessons will be covered of the exam. You will need to be able to explain the teaching lesson for each of them ‘OL’.

Please note: All who are charged are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This is only an example of a recent public news article that appeared in the Marietta Daily Journal. Nationally Representative CDC Study Finds 1 in 4 Teenage Girls Has a Sexually Transmitted Disease Chicago (March 11, 2008) – A CDC study released today estimates that one in four (26 percent) young women between the ages of 14 and 19 in the United States – or 3.2 million teenage girls – is infected with at least one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases (human papillomavirus (HPV), Chlamydia, herpes simplex virus, and trichomoaniasis). The American Dream The term was first used by James Truslow Adams in his book The Epic of America which was written in 1931. Is Teen Pregnancy just a Female Problem? Always use male examples or say “If you get someone pregnant… or if you get pregnant….” Don’t let the boys ‘off the hook’ as a teacher. Teen Male Fathers: “It takes two….BABY!”

Unplanned unmarried TEENAGE pregnancies! THE PROBLEM IS….. Unplanned unmarried TEENAGE pregnancies! There is a difference between a father and a daddy! Equally, there is clearly a difference between a mother and a mommy! Male= Sperm Donor Female= Gestation Station. Daddies change dirty diapers and Mommies kiss boo boo’s. Daddies and Mommies are there and provide!

THE PROBLEM PROPERLY IDENTIFIED! Teenaged UNMARRIED pregnancy which is associated with the following: Poverty Need for government assistance i.e. welfare, W.I.C. programs Irresponsibility of fathers “Dead Beat Dads” Georgia Law “garnishes” wages Incarceration (jail time) Drop-Out rates increase from schools There are many reasons to be passionately involved in abstinence education to sexual behavior. As you can see the entire community/state/country is effected by unhealthy sexual choices.

The Problem of Sexually Transmitted Diseases or STI’s 9 million teens each year 1 OUT OF EVERY 4 Sexually Active Teens gets a STI 1 teen every 8 seconds 20% of High School graduates in Georgia will have a STI The most current numbers and stats can be found on the CDC’s web site www.cdc.gov, Additionally, the late trends can be followed for more up to date information.

Don’t Mess with the MAGIC! A Powerful Bond: Oxytocin Oxytocin is the powerful hormone involved in bonding, sex, and childbirth as well as in relaxation and feelings of calm. It is the mirror image of the stress hormone adrenaline, which triggers the “fight or flight” systems in the body. Oxytocin is called the “BONDING HORMONE”.
