Agenda Summary Update – Current Activities/Updates – Recent PIP News – Upcoming Talks, Reports, Meetings Updates/Talks: Ken Domann
Update General Info – PreAcc Beam: Source Development work continues – looking to improve spark rate – Linac Beam: General Tuning – Booster Beam: Tuning – beam for HEP and studies Transverse damper studies – issue with one of the plates – will fix today Cogging software work continues – old system used in operation Booster orbit smoothing – no recent changes Booster optics software – Still need to move forward on software Booster Longitudinal dampers – New Boards (5) have arrived – hopefully will start firmware – Booster RF cavity rework Booster RF19 install underway – RF8 (this was the first refurbished but removed after sparking) is in the process of having repairs on tuners Spare Cavity Work – after assembly of brazed ends – leak found….not sure what fix will be – Booster Ferrites – Low Mu cores 60 ship 9/11, ship 9/18 and 76 (balance) ship 10/3 (testing on first two batches) – High mu cores – we are preparing a response before the next batch is made » We have placed an order for 10 high mu cores – not sure how long it will take! – HLRF – We went out to bid for a SBK and recently upon request extended the end date Nov 1 st we should have our CPI quote – Linac Modulator - testing continues – proceeding to 9 cell – Booster Shielding – Discussions on how to proceed with beam based measurements and MARS – Short Kickers under test (Hardware of kicker PS is progressing – maybe a status talk?)
Recent PIP Budget/News Supplemental Funding – Spent nearly all of allotted $$ Budget Issues – Submitted FY14 labor and Budget – Labor – just started new FY… will keep an eye on usage/numbers – PIP 11 M FY14 budget – can spend $$ again - – New director is trying to set course – lots of meetings Projects fighting for resources PIP is discussed – need to keep pressure on lab management – We have not had the expected labor on a few parts of PIP Cavity refurbishment is the most glaring shortfall MSD techs are supposedly available – waiting upon Matt for guidance Looking into other options to move this process along -Please use the E-Log to put general work in progress updates/photos – weekly would be nice – if progress is being made in task -Need to post
