August Highlights Grapevine – Colleyville ISD

District Highlights Grapevine-Colleyville ISD has maintained a rating of Recognized for 2010 under the state accountability system. In addition, 9 GCISD schools achieved the state’s highest rating of Exemplary. School and district ratings were released July 30 by the Texas Education Agency. The ratings are based on three measures: the TAKS, which is taken in the spring by Texas students in grades 3-11, a dropout rate for students transitioning from grade 7 to 8, and overall completion rate. GCISD retains Recognized status

District Highlights The Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to name Elaine Cogburn as the District’s Chief Financial Officer. Cogburn brings 15 years of experience in school district accounting, including eight years as CFO in Frenship ISD. She currently serves as the manager of Accounting Services for Dallas ISD. Her first day in GCISD will be in mid-August. GCISD names Chief Financial Officer

District Highlights Janice Kane has been selected as a recipient of the SafeHaven Legacy of Women Award for 2010 recognizing exceptional women in their chosen fields from across Tarrant County. She has served for six years as Executive Director of the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation and has been a long-time advocate for education. Foundation’s executive director to receive Legacy of Women award

District Highlights Community members are invited to join the Grapevine- Colleyville Education Foundation for “A Texas Star Welcome” celebrating the arrival of the District’s new educators, and local businesses and individuals are invited to lend their support. The luncheon is scheduled from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Grapevine Convention Center. For info: GC Foundation Plans New Educators Luncheon

District Highlights Reserved season tickets for the Grapevine High School and Colleyville Heritage High School varsity football games will be on sale for current season ticket-holders beginning Tuesday, August 10. The cost of the five-game ticket packet for CHHS is $45. The cost of the four-game packet for GHS is $36. Payment may be made by check (payable to GCISD) or cash only. Ticket sales to the general public will begin Thursday, August 19. Football ticket sales to begin in August
