Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I Digital Photography I __________________________________ Sandwich: Combined Image Compositions Parts Combined: Composite ordinary images to create extraordinary or poetic images. Use design principal such as color, line, perspective, texture, contrasting elements, and movement to make totally separate images dance together as one.

Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I Digital Photography I __________________________________ Sandwich: Combined Image Compositions Found Parts: I found the brass weights at a Thrift Store near down- town Seattle. I looked for and found the map at the Montlake Library. Both shots were done on location with modestly controlled available light. And they are both fully processed. The first subject has already been cut out (outlined) from its in-store messy background.

Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I Digital Photography I __________________________________ Sandwich: Combined Image Compositions Sandwiched: The cast shadow is the key to making the brass weights sit believably on the green map.

Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I Digital Photography I __________________________________ Sandwich: Combined Image Compositions Perspective & Scale: The subject shows perspective lines but in reverse from the usual expectation. Those lines are played against the counter angled diagonal lines on the map. And the map also has inherent perspective indicated by the yellow dotted lines.

Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I Digital Photography I __________________________________ Sandwich: Combined Image Compositions Class Example: This B&W version was used as a Lighting Class example. Reducing or eliminating the color element from an image can help to show the actual lighting of a scene or an object.

Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I Digital Photography I __________________________________ Sandwich: Combined Image Compositions Reference Point: Squint-view exercise Compare both images to notice how much easier both the gray scale and lighting can be seen in the b&w version. Part of the effectiveness of squint-viewing is that it reduces the color and color saturation component in the scene.
