I evaluate the scene Tonal range and adjust the camera Contrast accordingly. In this case, I set the camera to maximum contrast. I lightly cleaned up the subject of unwanted debris. But most of the debris was left for the natural street-aged look. Making Images: Manhole Cover

The shadow detail in this case was going to be very dark to dead Black for design purposes. As expected, the general look of the Image and the exposure graph is that of an under exposed image.
