I have corrected both the framing and light source position in the scene. The reframing is shown with the white rectangle. And the light source position is indicated with the yellow oval. Then the basic lab Work is applied. Then the adjustments becomes more subtle with mask painting. Then area ‘burns’ are applied to bring out the subject.

It’s done with elliptical selection, feathering selection, and brightness adjustment. In the example images, nothing else changed except for the eye. And once the eye is brighter, the small area of catch light becomes more obvious.
