2 Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I Flash and … Features that Separates: Simple features on a compact digital body separates the toy from real photographic tool. The first is the tripod thread built into the bottom of the camera. Most compact digitals have them. Shirt pocket digitals don’t have a tripod thread and other useful features and ‘under-the-hood’ controls for making photographs. The other is the flash ‘hot shoe’ mounted on top of the camera. It’s used to mount an accessory flash. Flash made by the camera maker tend to work more intuitively using the contact points on the ‘hot shoe’.
