1 Timothy 2:3-4 “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” Prayer is a good thing, it helps to accomplish God’s purpose

The Will of God + Consists of His commands, and his purposes for us Purpose – Redemption in ChristPurpose – Redemption in Christ That you be saved (1 Tim. 2:3-4)That you be saved (1 Tim. 2:3-4) That none should perish (2 Pet. 3:9; Matt. 18:14)That none should perish (2 Pet. 3:9; Matt. 18:14)

2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” But… The day of the Lord will come! (cf. vs. 10)

Matthew 18:14 “"Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.” All souls are precious in the sight of God

3:9; Matt. 18:14) That we be morally pure (1 Ths. 4:3,7)That we be morally pure (1 Ths. 4:3,7)

1 Thessalonians 4:3,7 3, “For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality.” 7, “For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.” Sanctification: God requires holiness in life!

1 Peter 2:15-17 “For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men; 16 as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. 17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.” Accomplished in a life of obedience and Christian influence

The Will of God + “Thy Will Be Done” – Our responsibilities (Matthew 6:10)

Matthew 6:10 “Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.”

The Will of God + “Thy Will Be Done” – Our responsibilities (Matthew 6:10) Surrendering Self (Matt. 26:39, 42; Heb. 13:5-6)Surrendering Self (Matt. 26:39, 42; Heb. 13:5-6)

Matthew 26:39, 42 39, “He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, ‘O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.’” 42, “Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, ‘O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.’”

Hebrews 13:5-6 “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ 6 So we may boldly say: ‘The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?’” Give yourself to Christ, and he will help you!

The Will of God + “Thy Will Be Done” – Our responsibilities (Matthew 6:10) Surrendering Self (Matt. 26:39, 42; Heb. 13:5-6)Surrendering Self (Matt. 26:39, 42; Heb. 13:5-6) Trust God (Heb. 6:13-18)Trust God (Heb. 6:13-18)

Hebrews 6:13-18 “For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, 14 saying, ‘Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.’ 15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. 16 For men indeed swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is for them an end of all dispute. 17 Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, 18 that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.”

The Will of God + “Thy Will Be Done” – Our responsibilities (Matthew 6:10) Surrendering Self (Matt. 26:39, 42; Heb. 13:5-6)Surrendering Self (Matt. 26:39, 42; Heb. 13:5-6) Trust God (Heb. 6:13-18)Trust God (Heb. 6:13-18) Result… Peace and Joy in Christ (Rom. 8:28; 15:32-33)Result… Peace and Joy in Christ (Rom. 8:28; 15:32-33)

Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Romans 15:32-33 “…that I may come to you with joy by the will of God, and may be refreshed together with you. 33 Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.” Paul desired the prayer of the Romans, that he could come to them. The Joy and Peace we have come from God through His son Jesus.
