WHAT IS THE GOSPEL? ROMANS 10:14-17 Part 3

The last couple of weeks we have been discussing “What Is The Gospel?” Last week we started an acrostic using the word “Gospel” to help answer this question. God-Given II Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God,… II Peter 1:20-21 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. G— O—Ordinance Containing God has set forth commands and He expects man to obey them. Commands to obey the Gospel

RepentConfessBe BaptizedHearBelieve We must stay faithful to God and His word. S—Soul-Saving The gospel was designed to save the soul. It is the Gospel that tells us Christ died for our sins He was buriedRaised on the third day All this was “according to the Scriptures.” According to the Gospel, He did all this so that our soul might be saved and give us the hope of eternal life. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. I Timothy 1:15 Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners,

P—Promissory Through the Gospel the Lord has promised us: Remission of Sins Acts 2:38 "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” To be with us Hebrews 13:5-6 For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you.'' So we may boldly say: "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?''

The Necessities of Life Philippians 4:19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Matthew 6:33 "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteous- ness, and all these things shall be added to you.” All Things Working Out Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Eternal Life God is faithful. Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began. I John :25 And this is the promise that He has promised us eternal life. How do we know God will be true to these promises? God cannot lie. Hebrew 6:18 It is impossible for God to lie Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

E—Effective It can change the lives of people.Paul It makes the Christian complete. II Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. I Timothy 1:13-6 Although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying and

The Thessalonians I Thessalonians 1:9-10 For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come. worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.

According to Acts 17:6, it was so powerful that those who preached it had the reputation of turning the world upside down. The Gospel is very effective. I Corinthians 6:9-11 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. The Corinthians

L—Lasting Although many have tried to stomp it out Others have tried to change it.The Gospel still stands! Matthew 24:25 "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.” I Peter 1:25 But the word of the Lord endures forever. The gospel will be there to face us on the day of judgment. John 12 :48 "He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.”

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. God-Given Ordinance Containing Soul Saving Promissory Effective Lasting GOSPELGOSPEL THE GOSPEL IS ABLE TO SAVE YOUR SOUL!

THE GOSPEL IS THE ONLY THING THAT CAN PREPARE US TO STAND BEFORE GOD ON THE DAY OF JUUDGMENT HAVE YOU OBEYED THE GOSPEL?
