General Process for Employment in the Trades 1. Put together your trade portfolio with Driver’s License information, proof of high school graduation or GED, Social Security card, and work experience 2. Attend a BIG STEP orientation to learn more about specific trade application days and requirements, as well as preparation for tests 3. Pass test and get letter of eligibility or placed on a ranked waiting list 4. Find a contractor or get placed with a contractor through the JATC

Residential Preference Program To get RPP Certified, you must be: City of Milwaukee Resident AND Been laid off for more than 30 days OR Have worked less than 1,200 hours in the last 12 months OR Be underemployed
