Lesson 2 Heredity and environment, which you have little or no control, are influential to your health. Social environment – peer pressure can be challenging Cultural environment – the language your family speaks, food they prefer, traditions, religion, etc. Physical environment – are there parks? Is it clean? Air quality? Crime?
Behavior is the most important factor because you control your own behavior!
Lesson 3 Accepting responsibility for your own health and for the health of others is a positive step toward wellness. A first step is to heighten your awareness of risk factors in your life. A second step is to examine current behaviors and values and to make any necessary changes to reduce risk.

Positive Factors Positive Role Models Positive Values Abstinence Responsible teens, who value their health, abstain from sexual activity before marriage and from other high-risk behaviors such as tobacco, alcohol and other drugs.
