Vocabulary Lesson Six

Ability (noun) ► The quality of being able to do something, especially the physical Chinese: 能力, 才干 ► Example: She has musical abilities from her young ages.

Admire (verb) ► To regard with pleasure, wonder, and approval Chinese: 赞美, 钦佩, 羡慕 ► Example: They all admired her bravery.

Honour (noun) ► the state of being honored Chinese: 尊敬, 敬意, 荣誉, 光荣 ► Example: We held a welcome party in honor of her.

Hurt (verb) ► To cause physical damage or pain to; injure. Chinese: 刺痛, 伤害, 危害, 损害, 受伤 ► Example: Nothing hurts more than a bad tooth.

Ideal (noun) ► An honorable or worthy principle or aim Chinese: 理想 ► Example: Hawaii is an ideal place for a holiday.

Lay (verb) ► To cause to lie down Chinese: 放置, 铺设, 产 ( 卵 ) 提出, 平息 ► Example: Her sister asked her to lay the vase on the table.

Thick (adj) ► Heavy in form, build, or stature Chinese: 厚的, 粗的, 稠的 ► Example: Smith has thick hair.

Delay (verb) ► postpone until a later time; defer Chinese: 耽搁, 延迟, 延期, 迟滞 ► Example: Yesterday the train was delayed by heavy snow.

Dentist (noun) ► A person who is trained and licensed to practice dentistry. Chinese: 牙科医生 ► Example: I go to the dentist's office once a week.

Deliberate (adj) ► To think carefully and often slowly, as about a choice to be made. Chinese: 深思熟虑的, 故意的 ► Example: The matter is now under deliberation.
