2 Teaching Aims: 1. Improve the students` listening and speaking abilities. 2. Study the usages of the modal verbs. 3. Master some important words and expressions. Teaching important points: Help the students understand the passage. Teaching difficult points: Help the students grasp the usages of modal verbs. Teaching Steps: Step 1:Greetings and Warming up

3 An English Tongue Twister People meet and people pass by, Some laugh while some cry, Some give up while some always try, Some say hi while some say bye, Others may forget you but never I. Step 2: Revision 1.Something we learned about Canada. 2.An important grammar:agreement. Step 3: Leading-in Tell the students what I saw a few days ago and introduce what we`ll learn in this lesson.

4 Step4.Presentation 1.injure eg: He was badly injured in the crash. 他在事故中严重受伤。 injure , wound , hurt 1) injure 指人在意外事故中受伤。 eg: He got seriously injuries to his leg at work. 他工作时腿部严重受伤. 2) wound 指在战争中受到的伤害. eg: 10 soliders were killed and 20 seriously wounded. 在战争中 10 名士兵被杀,20 名严重受伤. 3) hurt 指身体某部位受到的伤害, 也指感情受的创伤. eg: The hurt to his feeling is more serious than the hurt to his body. 他感情上所受的伤害比身体上所受的伤害严重的多.

5 2.breathe(v.) 呼吸 1) (vt.) It`s good to breathe fresh country air instead of city smoke. 呼吸乡村新鲜空气比吸入城市烟尘要好是的多. 2) (vi.) People breathe more slowly when they`re asleep. 人们睡觉的时候呼吸要慢的多. 3) breathe in,breathe out The doctor asked me to breathe in and then breathe out slowly. 医生要我吸气然后慢慢的吐出来. 4) breath(n.) He took a deep breath and dived in the water again. 他深吸了一口气又潜入了水中. catch/hold one`s breath 屏住呼吸 get one`s breath 呼吸恢复正常 out of/short of one`s breath 上气不接下气, 喘不过气来

6 3. Look at the dialogue and listen to the tape then answer two questions. 1) What was the accident? 2) Where did she injure? Suggested answers: 1) A child ran into the street and knocked a girl off the bike. 2) Her knees hurt,her foot and head hurt,too. 4. Let two groups read the dialogue,and write down some important expressions and sentences. Important sentences and expressions: 1) Chen Wei and Susan are walking down the street when they see an accident. 2) That girl has fallen off her bike.A child ran into the street and knocked her off her bike. 3) I think she must injured. 4) Leave her where she is. 5) You mustn`t move somebody. If they`re badly hurt. 6) Take it easy.

7 5. Then look at the second part: Discussion. And please do as the instruction tell you to do. A: What do you do if somebody fell from the bicycle and got injured? B: I should/shouldn`t/mustn`t do...... Step5. Practice Please read the dialogue again, then practice it with your partner, after that I will ask some of you to act in front of the class. Step6.Summury The important language points: 1) The usages of the word injure and breathe 2) Some useful expressions: a. Take it easy! b. Don`t worry about that, I`ll stay here until the help comes.
