Phosphate Cycle

Every organic material lives, and then dies and decomposes, adding to phosphate to the soil and water. This, in turn, feeds the plants and animals more, allowing it to grow.

Carbon Emission Carbon is emitted from many different places including cars, factories, and refineries.

Carbon Emissions Light Photons leave the sun and go to Earth. They hit Earth and 75% of the photons are not observed and bounce back up away to space. The photons hit the Carbon Dioxide that is floating around the atmosphere. The Carbon Dioxide traps the photons and sends them back down to Earth. That repeats until the photons leave the atmosphere.

Global Warming Carbon Dioxide is 76% of the cause of global warming. As the light bounces back and forth between space and Earth it warms up the Earth. As Carbon Dioxide levels rise the light gets trapped more and more heating up the Earth quickly. Global warming has many consequences. The sea levels could rise from the glaciers melting. This would cause extreme damage to coastal cities and islands. The air could become more deadly if the Earth warms up. Not only would heat waves cross countries around the world killing many, but carbon dioxide would help the growth of pollen and other allergy inducing plants. The melting glaciers take away the polar bears’ habitats. The glaciers have drifted and become so much smaller that when polar bears swim between them for food the drown. The raise in global temperatures cause unnatural weather patterns. Hurricane Katrina is one example of a disastrous occurrence.

Human Impact When we cut down trees, the carbon cycle (carbon emissions) are affected by the change in oxygen emitted which changes the carbon we breath out. Cutting down trees also loosens the soil releasing Phosphorus into the environment making the phosphate cycle “speed up”.
