Climate Change By Hannah, Megan, Sara and Julian

2 What does Climate Change mean?
Climate Change: A change in the worlds climate (weather)

3 Do you know what the green house effect is?

4 Green house effect CO2 Light from the suns rays hits the Earth and then turns to heat. Gases such as carbon dioxide traps the heat.

5 We breath Co2 out and then the trees use it like we do with oxygen
We breath Co2 out and then the trees use it like we do with oxygen. The trees are being cut down. Co2 causes climate change and if there are no trees to breath it in the climate will change dramatically.

6 What are Fossil Fuels? ·Plants and remains of Animals from thousands of years ago ·Turns into coal, oil and natural gas ·Dug out of ground (mines, oil rigs) ·Makes co2 which causes climate change ·Fossil Fuels are running out

7 When do we use Fossil Fuels?
·We use Fossil fuels all the time, everyday ·Electricity ·Cars, buses, trains, airplanes (fuel that powers them) · Heating our homes · Cooking ·Factories

8

9 Increase in Population

10 More people are breathing out!
More houses are being heated! More carbon emissions from cars! More electricity is used in homes!

11 Increase in Carbon Emissions

12 We are using a lot of Fossil fuels!

13 Carbon Dioxide Levels – Increasing!

14

15 What are the Consequences
What are the Consequences? When the average temperature of Earth rises: Temperature of air rises = the water temperature rises = the ice melts faster = sea level rises

18 There is also an increases in extreme weather ( droughts, floods, heat waves, stronger hurricanes ). For example, in Africa there was a huge drought. This resulted in famine ( lack of food and water ). Many places are facing it. This also resulted in burning the trees.

19 Coral reefs are being destroyed. If the sea gets too hot, then it dies
Coral reefs are being destroyed. If the sea gets too hot, then it dies. Also, if there is acid in the water, then it dissolves.

20 Trees remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and turns it into oxygen. However, trees are being burnt down. The higher the temperature is, the higher the risk of a forest fire. Also, if there is a drought, then there is less water available to put the fire out.

21 What can we do about it? Fossil Fuels are running out and they are causing to much co2 We need to find greener ways to power our everyday lives Solar Panels (Energy from the sun) Wind Power Water Power

22 Thank you for watching!
