Efficient energy design and management are essential to ensure the efficient energy usage, cut energy cost and improve environmental quality. Three phases of energy management:(Planning, Implementing, Monitoring and Evaluation). Energy management involves the utilization of the minimum quantity of energy required for the task at an appropriate quality. e-Bario Knowledge Fair Introduction

Lack of knowledge on energy management. Little effort done to help underserved community. Community relying on petrol/diesel generator set and free light. Current Practise in Rural Area 5 e-Bario Knowledge Fair 2011

Case study in Kapit: –Usage of max 10kW but generator system provided supply 30kW of energy. –The use of energy inefficient devices such fluorescent lamp contributes to energy wastage. –Replacing energy efficient devices can reduce electricity consumption by half. –Energy planning that takes into consideration factors such as resource depletion, supply production, cost, security of supply and also impact must be strategized. Conclusion Better energy management and design may contribute to cheaper operational cost. Avoiding unnecessary consumption of energy or choosing the most appropriate equipment to reduce the cost of the energy helps to decrease individual energy consumption without decreasing individual welfare. It will benefit rural community including those in the homestay industry and small industry.
