Proposed Structure for Championship League on Following Slide

Championship League Proposal At the moment, this is at a high level, as the number of teams competing is to be confirmed. The Principals are; That initially the teams will be split into 2 groups, with where possible the same number of teams from each district ie 1 North, 1 Midland, 3 West and 3 East. Each team would play once The rankings in the initial group would then give you a top group, middle group and bottom group ( or a top and Bottom Group) They would either play once or twice with the aim to give each team 18 games, or as close as possible

If Winner of RLN or RCL1 is a Second or Third Team or a first team that doesn’t want to be promoted, then highest placed first team in the respective leagues, plays off against the bottom two teams of NL3 There has been a request from a side in RLN to move to Join the RCL. This will be consulted on, in time for the season.

The higher ranked team will have home advantage in the second leg. In the event of Aggregate goals being the same, a penalty competition will happen. Playoffs to be played on Approved Water Based Surfaces

Championship/Regional League Playoff Information Playoff Finals will be held as a one-off game at a Venue decided by the SHU The team with the most goals in the match will be the winner In the event of a draw, a penalty competition will happen.

Cup & Plate Competitions Scottish Cup & Plate competitions throughout the season Scotland players will be eligible to play in Scottish Cup and Plate, but may be unavailable for certain matches due to International Commitments. District Cup & Plate competitions throughout season.

Regulations and Rules In line with FIH regulations, Playing the Ball above the Shoulder will continue to be played at our National Competitions; NL, RLN,RCN, Championship and Scottish Cup and Plate. The FIH have introduced several new regulations at short notice. If this happens again, the management committee will review the changes and decide if it is advantageous to play them in Scotland. The FIH will introduce Quarters and time stoppages for goals and Penalty Corners for events including the Women’s European Championships. We have no plans to play these rules in our league competitions, but will consult on the possibilities of using this in the Play-offs and Scottish Cup and Plate Semi Finals and Finals.

Indoor We had considerable feedback that teams didn’t feel that the first seven games meant anything in INL1 or INL2. It did allow teams to practice new tactics and techniques with the FIH’s sudden introduction of 5 a side. For this season the proposal is that we will use the same structure, but teams will carry their points against the other teams in their pool, meaning that every match in the first seven could mean something.
