Student Led Conferences By Daniel Schneider

Cover Letter This past year, I have learned about a broad range of topics from Earth Science to Chemistry. I learned how to balance chemical equations and draw dot structures for chemistry. My favorite project in Chemistry was designing and constructing our own Periodic Table. In Earth Science I learned about oceanography and mapping the depths of the Atlantic Ocean. Mapping the depths of the Atlantic Ocean was my favorite Lab in Earth Science, although it was frustrating and confusing at some points. Finally, I feel that I learned more about how to do write-ups and lab reports. My least favorite part of science is probably the Rocks and Minerals unit. Overall, I look to the rest of the year in science.

Skills & Effort Description On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) rate yourself on your ability to complete all the assignments for class. Why? (things like, time spent on assignments outside of class, time and effort spent studying for quizzes/tests, etc.) I would rate myself as a 4. This is because I usually turn in homework on time and spent a lot of time and effort completing assignments for this class. But I don’t always study often, and this sometimes reflects my grades. I almost always do my homework and turn it in, but there are some moments where I don’t. Overall, I put in hard work and effort when it comes to spending time on assignments out of class, but I need to work on handing in my homework.

Skills & Effort Description (Continued) On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) rate yourself on your class time effort & positive contributions to class discussion(s). Why? I would rate myself as a 3.5. This is because I don’t participate that often when it comes to class discussions, such as TED Talks or answering a question. Yet when I do contribute to a class discussion it is always positive. When it comes to class time effort, I rated myself a 3.5 because I easily get distracted In class, and put off work until I get home. But Overall when doing showing effort in class I do a good job.

Continued… On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) rate yourself on your ability to work with others in class. Why? I would rate myself a 4.5 when it comes to working with others in class. This is because I usually don’t control the other person. I use good communication skills, which means I get along with most of my partners. I get along with most people in the class so I work well on projects with anyone. I usually never slack off but I can get distracted sometimes which leaves my partner doing the work.

Continued… On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) Describe/list steps you will take to improve upon your performance for next quarter/year. Why? I would rate myself as a 4. The main steps I would take to improve my performance are studying more often, paying more attention and participating more in class, asking more questions, and slightly improve partner skills. Studying more often would improve my test scores and help me understand the material a little bit better. Participating in class discussions could help with understanding certain topics in class.

Continued… On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) Has your performance in Science this year been improving, getting worse, or staying the same? Can you explain why this may be the case? I would rate myself as a 4.5 My performance in science has improved a lot. I started off with a 84% in science at the beginning of the year, and currently I have a 94%. I feel that I have also been improving when it comes to labs and write-ups. One cause of my improvement is probably putting in more effort towards my work and projects.
