Middle School named after Priest Wacław Rabczyński in Wasilków COLLABORATION OF SCHOOL’S STUDENT COUNCIL WITH THE SCHOOL BOARD

Student Council is the field of everyone’s collaboration:  students’  teachers’  head teacher’s  parents’ Such collaboration gives solid educational effects. Each Student Council bases on two pillars: on interests and needs of teenagers and on their duties.

COLLABORATION WITH THE HEAD TEACHER Student Council collaborates with the head teacher in the field of shaping and consolidating responsibility for the surrounding. The effect of this collaboration is: Working out and bringing into force of school’s regulations considering:  class duties  school duties  class host  school dance parties  the golden graduate Taking care about the appearance of school and its surroundings:  flower window (class competitions for spring box, flower window, flowers on hall’s and bathroom’s window sills)

COLLABORATION WITH THE HEAD TEACHER Developing conscious participation in the public life:  Electing the Student Council’s guardian by students (the guardian isn’t imposed by the head teacher but chosen in the democratic vote)  The election of Student Council’s guardian is preceded by an election campaign

COLLABORATION WITH THE HEAD TEACHER Increase of Student Council’s role is achieved by:  contact box  debates with the head teacher  hours of meetings with the head teacher

COLLABORATION WITH THE HEAD TEACHER Motivating students towards working creatively for the good of the local community Together with the Friends of Wasilków Society we collect money to renovate the Catholic cemetery in Wasilków. Throughout the whole year we look after the figures on the Catholic cemetery. We’ve realized the Civic Education Center project ‘Adoption of Monuments’.

COLLABORATION WITH THE HEAD TEACHER We take part in organizing the Days of Wasilków. Here the Youth Parade in association with the Local Culture Centre

COLLABORATION WITH THE HEAD TEACHER Two times at our school took place the debates of Youth’s European Parliament. It was an occasion to check our organizational and language skills. On December 8th there was held a Town Council session to give honorable citizenship of Wasilków to the Białystok’s Metropolitan Archbishop Edward Ozorowski

COLLABORATION WITH THE HEAD TEACHER We are responsible, as the Student Council, for taking care of invited guests and for the organizational and artistic parts of school events. The 25th anniversary of establishing Independent Self-governing Trade Union ‘Solidarity’. It was an occasion to meet the politics from the newspapers’ front pages, to listen to their speeches and discussions.

COLLABORATION WITH THE TEACHING STAFF The activity of the Student Council in our school is the team work of many teachers and the majority of students. The Student Council initializes and organizes many actions, school and local parties which are included in the work plan. Many of them have become a solid element of Student Council’s activity. Other result from students’ creativity. Without the collaboration and commitment of teaching staff some part of the activities wouldn’t be possible to fulfill.

COLLABORATION WITH THE TEACHING STAFF Our school’s tradition is that the Student Council takes part in the local national celebrations. The Student Council chooses the colour guard’ standard-bearers which accompanies every school event.

COLLABORATION WITH THE TEACHING STAFF With the beginning of the school year we collaborate with 1st classes’ form teachers and we prepare the welcome of first-class students. We fulfill the ‘All on Board’ project which ends with initiation on which the class teams present the effects of their joint work.

COLLABORATION WITH THE TEACHING STAFF As a tradition, the Student Council organizes the Commission of National Education Day. In our school it is a Golden Teachers Gala which imitates the Hollywood Oscars. The statues, which are handed in by the Student Council, are invented and created by students themselves. The first day of spring in our school is the day of presenting musical, vocal, literary and sporting skills and talents under the banner of ‘Spring Review of Young Talents’.

COLLABORATION WITH THE TEACHING STAFF Volunteers, from the school club the Samaritan, under teachers supervision organize various actions to help other people. Project ‘My school friend from Africa’ is funded mainly by selling homemade cakes. Christmas fairs allow to fund dinners and school books for needy students. We’ve organized a charity concert during which we’ve collected money an ill friend’s surgery.

COLLABORATION WITH THE TEACHING STAFF We take part in all-Polish actions: All Poland reads children The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Older brother, older sister, which continuation is friends’ self-help.

COLLABORATION WITH THE TEACHING STAFF Our middle school has: school newspaper ‘Staple’, school radio, school library’s multimedia centre. They allow to inform and publicize actions of Student Council.

COLLABORATION WITH THE PARENTS BOARD  They are present as guardian on every school dance party.  They organize the VIP ball and invite students, appreciating their commitment and efforts put in education, exemplary and very good behavior, 100% presence, success in various competitions and sporting events and social work.  They prepare the prom. Parents are the allies of our student council. They take part in many school actions.

COLLABORATION WITH THE PARENTS BOARD  They co-fund prizes in competitions organized by the Student Council (such as: Christmas crib competition, Easter egg, Christmas classroom look, presentation of European Union countries, the Great Andrews, the logo of White Ravens…
