Benavides Elementary Fine Arts Program rated Recognized Benavides Elementary provides students with the opportunity to participate in the following programs /activities: Ballroom, Choir, Chess, Spring Musical, Christmas Musical, Destination Imagination, Honors Choir, Art Classes, Cheerleading & 21 st Century. 3 A. X. Benavides Elementary School Wellness and Physical Education Program rated Recognized Benavides has established a CATCH program. Benavides Elementary staff and students participate in various wellness events such as Health Screenings, Jump for Heart, Field Day, Relay for Life, Running Club, RGV Congenital Heart Walk. Benavides also has a flag football team. Ocelot cheerleaders participate actively throughout the school year. During Red Ribbon Week Benavides has various dress up days to encourage saying No to Drugs along with a big pep rally encouraging students to make healthy choices!  Wellness & Physical Ed Program

Benavides Elementary Community & Parental Involvement Program rated Recognized Community and Parental Involvement Program …… Benavides Elementary conducts monthly parent meetings in which various topics are addressed. Guest speakers are invited to present and read to our students. Benavides also hosts library days/ evenings where students come in with their parents to read. Tutorial is offered to ensure all students are successful. Parent volunteers are an important component at our campus. Benavides Participates in various community projects/activities such as Adopt A School, Career Day, Pull Tab Collection, Bird Festival, Hope Walk.

Benavides Elementary School 21 st Century Workforce Development rated Exemplary College & Career Readiness Every grade level/ department at Benavides Elementary adopted a different University / College. Every Friday students read information/ facts regarding their university. Throughout the school year students and staff are encouraged to wear university t-shirts and jerseys. At our STAAR rally students participate in a parade of Universities. Benavides took every 5 th grade student to University of Texas RGV and stressed the variety of careers and jobs in our community. Benavides Elementary Dropout Prevention Strategies rated Exemplary After school tutorials, 21 st Century Program…  Students during tutorials… Benavides provides Saturday Academies, After school tutorial, 21 st Century, Accelerated Reader, Guest Speakers, Living With Science Lab, Counseling Presentations, Computer Coding, Computer Labs and University Spirit Days to prevent drop out and encourage student achievement.

Benavides School Second Language Acquisition rated Recognized English as a Second Language programs…  Students created… Bilingual students at Benavides Elementary are given the opportunity to acquire the English Language through a variety of activities and programs. Computer Labs, Choir, Saturday Academies, etc are just a few of the ways students practice their English. Our students are encouraged to participate in activities celebrating various cultures such as Charro Days, Cinco De Mayo, Día De Los Niños, as well as Cultural Research and Projects. Parents, teachers and students are made aware of Cyber bullying through presentations done by our counselors! Living With Science Lab, Computer Lab, Laptops in 5 th Grade Classes, Z Space 3D Real World Virtual Reality, AR Testing, e Reader devices are used on a daily basis. The Benavides website provides links to various educational sites. Grade book allows parents to monitor student grades providing communication between teachers and parents. Benavides Elementary Educational Programs for G/T rated Recognized Gifted and Talented program participants  Gifted and talented program students… Gifted and Talented students are encouraged to participate in UIL, Destination Imagination, Science Fair, Choir, Chess, School Musicals, Ballroom, etc. Teachers with GT students obtain Professional Development hours in order to serve and differentiate for all students.
