Benavides Elementary staff and students participate in various wellness events such as Health Screenings, Jump for Heart, Field Day, Relay for Life, Running Club, RGV Congenital Heart Walk. Benavides also has a flag football team. Ocelot cheerleaders participate actively throughout the school year. Benavides Elementary Community & Parental Involvement Program rated Recognized Community and Parental Involvement Program …… Benavides Elementary conducts monthly parent meetings in which various topics are addressed. Guest speakers are invited to present and read to our students. Benavides also hosts library days/ evenings where students come in with their parents to read. Tutorial is offered to ensure all students are successful. Parent volunteers are an important component at our campus. Benavides Participates in various community projects/activities such as Adopt A School, Career Day, Pull Tab Collection, Bird Festival, Hope Walk.

Benavides Elementary School 21 st Century Workforce Development rated Exemplary College & Career Readiness Every grade level/ department at Benavides Elementary adopted a different University / College. Every Friday students read information/ facts regarding their university. Throughout the school year students and staff are encouraged to wear university t-shirts and jerseys.
