What Happens if Your Student is Observed Participating in What Appears to be an Inappropriate Activity While in the Testing Center

Someone Cheated We never accuse anyone of “cheating”. We never use the word “cheat”. We observe and report things that appear to be inappropriate It is the Instructors responsibility to determine if cheating really did take place. We provide a written report of what was said and observed and any evidence we collect.

A Note! We confiscate the notes or any evidence involved. If they wrote on their hand we make a copy of their hand on the copy machine May I see the note?

Caught Cheating Anytime we observe inappropriate activity we fill out an “Integrity Report”. We make copies of all of the evidence and the report. One copy is for the instructor, one for the Student Honor Office, and one is kept on file..

We give them a “What Now Card”. We call you to let you know what has happened. After we give you the evidence it is up to you and the Student Honor Office. You have been dismissed from the Testing Center for conduct observed to have been in violation of Testing Center policy. A written report of what was seen, together with any physical evidence, such as books, notes, etc., will be forwarded to your instructor for evaluation. A copy of the written report will also be forwarded to the Honor Code Office. For Questions concerning you status in your class, please contact your instructor. For Questions concerning your status with the University, please contact the Honor Code Office. If you feel you have been unjustly accused, you are welcome to request a review in person with the Manager of the Testing Center. This appointment must be made by10:00AM of the next working day. (Monday – Friday)

Got the Wrong Test! If a student takes the test in the test room and then tells us that it is the wrong one after they have answered more that half of the questions or they have had it for an extended amount of time we will score it. The score will be removed from the record only if the instructor tells us to do so. NOTE:This may be an excuse to look at the test and take it later with an unfair advantage.
