Critical Thinking in Social Studies Ancient Civilizations Focus: Understand what makes up a civilization Acquire knowledge of ancient civilizations and analyze the effects of geography on how they lived. Knowledge of terms essential as a foundation Comprehension through outlines, note taking, summing up Critical Thinking Questions: Overall identifying patterns in ancient history Analysis of cause and effect, decisions, leadership Evaluation of Problems and Solutions, compare-contrast Synthesize understanding by writing arguments or explanatory essays in the brief form of constructive responses. Apply note taking skills for researching in a library using computer databases, books, references, and textbook.
