Midterm Exam: Speaking Day 2
Presentation transcript:

In danger of failing  If you are in danger of failing, I have reached out to you already!  Do not wait until after I post grades to the report card to bring me all your late work. It will not be accepted then.

NOTEBOOKS  You may not be on the same page in your notebook as others. Some of you write bigger. Some of you did not get the large, plastic notebook as I requested.  Do not become fixated on page numbers of others. Label your table of contents so that YOU may find what you need!  You need to get tape and notecards before next week. I will no longer be providing these items.

I have said these things a MILLION times but for those that forget…  I cannot memorize vocabulary for you! If you do not take the time to memorize the words/phrases, you will not be able to use them in context. You cannot tell me what you eat for lunch if you don’t know how to say “eat” and “lunch”. Yo no soy diccionario (I am not a dictionary!). I you what you need.  Studying helps you determine what you did not understand. If you do not study, you won’t know which questions to ask. “I don’t get any of this” is not a valid statement here! “I need help applying time in a sentence with food” is the type of thing I want to hear. Now we have a baseline.  Tutoring is NOT to re-teach the unit’s lessons. It is to enrich and reinforce. Come with questions! Review your vocabulary BEFORE you come!  I am here to facilitate your learning. I am here to help YOU, but you must HELP YOURSELF! Be accountable for your own learning and the results will benefit you!  “I’m just not good at Spanish” or “I’m too busy to study” will not get you where you need to be! Be proactive! Make a plan to be better and stick to it!

CLASSROOM RULES/PROCEDURES reiterated  Be open-minded! “That’s stupid” is NOT appropriate, especially in a class focused on culture.  NO CELL PHONES! NO FOOD! NO GUM! Progressive discipline will be administered.  If you are absent, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to get what you missed THE DAY YOU RETURN. That has not changed from Day 1! “I was absent” is RARELY a valid excuse! Too many people are missing classes and using that as an excuse for failure. Exams must be made up within 5 days of your return. I cannot wait weeks and weeks to return tests because students aren’t making them up in a timely manner.  NO RESTROOM privileges the first or last 15 min. of class nor when I am giving notes/instructions

I gave an exam review: Over half of the class did not do it. I gave a replica of your speaking: Over half of you did not do the assignment. I give exact sentence structures necessary to write paragraphs. I upload PowerPoints, Youtube videos, and links to help on my Wiki. I give you the vocabulary and pronounce it for you. I also gave a site that helps if you forget pronunciation. I offer tutoring. I give you EVERYTHING you need to be successful! WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO to ensure YOUR success?!

SPEAK SPANISH!  I will respond less and less to English  We have established a lot of vocabulary to comprehend basic instructions and convey basic ideas in the target language.  Please STOP asking if it has to be in Spanish! Unless the directions say otherwise, the answer is “yes”. There is NO reason for someone to ask me during the Speaking portion of the midterm for SPANISH class, if it has to be in Spanish  The more you practice, the better you will be!

Un repaso de Unidad 2 Nivel 1
