Swinburne Incident / Hazard Reporting time frames by Division Work site inspections Work site inspections are required to be conducted twice yearly as part of Swinburne’s OHS Work Site Inspection Procedure. The completed work site inspection sheets become a working document for the management unit where actions identified are tracked until all are implemented. Providing actions identified in each inspection are implemented, management units should identify less deficiencies and failures in subsequent inspections. As at 17/10/2011 only 48% of OHS Worksite Inspection Reports have been received at HR. The cut off for receipt is 31/10/2011. Final figures for completion rates will be included in the October OHS report. Swinburne General OHS Information WorkSafe Week This year there will be a presentation at each Swinburne campus by Alan Newey - a survivor of a serious workplace incident. Alan speaks from the point of view of an injured worker and gives a real human insight into what happens during and after such a life-changing experience. His presentation not only addresses the sequence of events leading up to this incident, but the issues surrounding OHS today and how “OH&S is not just another thing I have to do”, and the importance of creating a safe workplace. Workstation Stretch & Warm Up Posters In conjunction with WorkSafe week, new workplace stretch/warm up posters will be made available to all staff. These are the commencement of a rolling awareness program with a new subject matter to be communicated every two months. We encourage members of the safety committee’s to forward any ideas they may have for promoting the safety message Occupational Health & Safety Report – February 2012
