In What Ways Is Hosting The Olympics Have A Positive Or Negative Effect ?

What Are The Positive Effects ?

You can use the Olympics as an excuse to dismantle old properties and build brand new ones. Also the fact that there will be international observation means that the work will be to higher standard There is a boost in tourism for years after the Olympics Holding the Olympics is a way of making a political point. Beijing has now become part of the global community through hosting the Olympics games

What Are The Negative Effects ?

Terrorism increases in your country/city The financial burden when you spend billions and the taxpayer has to pay extra There is no DIRECT profit Some tourists are frightened of coming because they have a fear of overcrowding The bidding process takes to long and while you wait for the go ahead you could be preparing

What Are The Risks ?

We Are Charged With The Task Of Keeping An Ancient Promise

We must defend the Olympic torch

We all know that terrorism affects all reaches of the world WE MUST BE UNITED AS A WORLD IN FIGHTING IT The financial burden hanging over your country It’s a country profile so you will be under the spotlight of the media

Who Is Responsible For Feeding The Athletes ?

YOUR COUNTRY !!!! You send over money and the athletes go and buy the food then the selected chefs have to prepare and serve it to you

Accommodation

There are 2 villages The Athlete Village, that’s where all there athletes and the managers stay (although some do stay other places). It is not open to the public, you have to have special pass to be allowed access. The Olympic Village. That is where the torch is kept throughout the games. It is a focal point for the world.

Is It Worth Hosting The Olympics ?

The Beijing Olympics are the most expensive games in history with a price tag of over $34 billion. The Birds Nest alone cost $400 million The money again can be an issue that concerns some countries. The question is will the benefits justify the costs ?

Conclusion Hosting the Olympics can have a positive AND negative effect. The positive effect of hosting the Olympics can be an increase in tourism for years to come after the Olympics. But the negative effect is the financial burden. Taxpayers of Barcelona only just finished paying off the Olympics held there in 1992.
