The 3 Little Pigs... Click on the mouse to continue …

Once upon a time, there were three little pigs with nothing to do Once upon a time, there were three little pigs with nothing to do. “Let’s play something on the computer,” said the first little pig. “Good idea.” said the second little pig. “Let’s go on the Internet!” said the third little pig. They all agreed.

The three little pigs logged on. They went to a chat room and began typing messages to the people they met there. There was only one problem . . .

The person they were chatting with was the Big, Bad Wolf! “What is your name?” asked the three little pigs. “My name is Peter Pig,” lied the big bad wolf. “I am very lonely and have no one to play with. Would you play with me?”

“Well, we don’t know where you live.” answered the first pig. “And we wouldn’t know how to get to your house,” replied the second pig. “And our parents aren’t home,” said the third pig.

“That’s OK,” typed the big, bad wolf “That’s OK,” typed the big, bad wolf. “My parents can drive me to your house. What is your address?”

The three little pigs conferred together The three little pigs conferred together. “I don’t know,” said the first little pig. “This doesn’t feel quite right.” “Oh, don’t be a piggly wiggly,” said the second pig. “What could possibly happen?” “It’ll be fun!” said the third little pig. So they all agreed together to give their home address to the big, bad wolf, whom they thought was just another little pig.

The three little pigs were very excited about having a new friend come over. They went upstairs to their bedrooms to gather their favorite toys. While they were up there, the first little pig looked out the window just as the big, bad wolf was sneaking up to the house. 9 1 1 “Quick!” cried the little pig. “Dial 911!” The second little pig ran to the phone and called 911.

The 911 operator asked the pigs to stay on the line. They stayed calm and gave all the information that the operator asked for. In the meantime, the wolf was banging on the door. “Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in,” the wolf spoke softly and in a kind voice. “It’s me, Peter Pig. I’ve come to play with you.” Luckily, the three little pigs lived in a brick house. Not only that but . . .

The police and the little pigs’ parents were right behind him. The big, bad wolf was arrested. The three little pigs were first hugged by their parents because they were glad they were safe. Then they were scolded for not following the Internet Safe Surfing tips. The three little pigs decided that they would use their computer to help others learn safety rules for using the Internet. The following are their tips for Safe Surfing on the World Wide Web . . .

Safety Tips To Help You Stay Safe! Never give out personal information like your last name, phone number, address, telephone number, parent's work address/telephone number, or the name or location of of your school without a parent or teacher's permission. Never agree to get together with someone you "meet" on-line without first checking and talking it over with your parents. If your parents agree to the meeting, be sure that it's in a public place and have your parents go with you! Never at your house! Never send a person your picture or anything else without first checking with your parents. Log off and don’t respond if anyone uses nasty language or mentions ANYTHING that make you feel uncomfortable. If you receive a message that gives you those feelings, tell your parents or teacher right away so that they can contact the on-line service. Be careful when someone offers you something for nothing, such as gifts and money. Don't tell anyone on-line that you're home alone. There are some places on the Internet only for adults. If you happen to find yourself at one of these sites, leave immediately! Then, go tell your parents what happened. Never enter a chatroom or other discussion group on-line without first checking with your parents. Never give your E-mail address out without first checking with your parents.
