HUMAN BODY SYSTEMS

How many body systems can you name? Watch the following video and tell the body system (s) it is related to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXIcwm1oqQw

Integumentary system Includes the skin, hair, nails, and the glands in the skin. Can you infer the function of this system?

Watch the following video and tell the body system (s) it is related to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JddHE5l0y68

Nervous system Detects changes in the environment and signals responses. Which are the organs that make up this system?

Watch the following video and tell the body system (s) it is related to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MDn5GgyxyU

Respiratory system Is made of a network of breathing passages and the lungs. What is the main function of this system?

Watch the following video and tell the body system (s) it is related to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkNDvxZOfik

Circulatory system Transports essential substances throughout the body. Includes the heart, the network of blood vessels, an blood Apart from oxygen, what other substances are transported by this system?

Lymphatic system Returns fluids from spaces between cells to the circulatory system. Filters bacteria and particles out of the fluid. Made of a network of vessels and lymph nodes, as well as organs such as the spleen, tonsils, and appendix.

Immune system Defends the body against infectious agents. This system includes the bone marrow and white blood cells, and organs such as lymph nodes and thymus.

Skeletal system The body framework Made of bones, joints and cartilage. Helps with movement, stores minerals, makes blood cells, and protects internal organs.

Muscular system When muscles work together with bones, they move parts of the body. Muscles in internal organs move substances in them.

Excretory system Removes wastes from the body. It includes the kidneys and the bladder.

Digestive system Takes in and breaks down food and absorbs nutrients. It includes the mouth, esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas.

Endocrine system Secrets chemicals called hormones. This system includes some endocrine glands as well as reproductive organs.

Reproductive system Enables the body to produce offspring. It includes the reproductive organs and some endocrine glands.
